Self and Self-Realization
Hari Nam Singh Khalsa
Sat Nam Rasayan
Guru Dev Singh
"In Sanskrit, Sat Nam Rasayan means, healing through the name" or "profound relaxation within the divine name." It is, then, a form of spiritual healing, but one that does not employ magic or miracles. Sat Nam Rasayan teaches healing through meditation. The healer does not bypass any steps, nor does he interpose in the ebb and flow of events. He meditates, and while meditating, he employs a specific element of the meditating mind, awareness, to melt away the resistance of the person seeking cure.
The purpose of Sat Nam Rasayan is to serve humanity. Sat Nam Rasayan works on a subtle level thru the projective meditative mind. Sat Nam Rasayan allows the healer to access and balance the five elements (air, earth, ether, fire, and water) and the pranic body.
The mind of the Sat Nam Rasayan healer/ practitioner can become transcendent and in the vastness of this consciousness healing will happen. This state is a pure meditative absorption between the Healer and Client, in the Divine.
"In 1978, Guru Dev Singh began studying Sat Nam Rasayan in the traditional way, in silence and seated beside his master, Yogi Bhajan. It was this same master who asked Guru Dev Singh to find a way of teaching this method widely, employing a means that would be accessible to all, the word." Excerpt from Sat Nam Rasayan The Art of Healing
Self Experience
Harijot Kaur Khalsa
This is Harijot Kaur's newest book on Kundalini Yoga sets taught by Yogi Bhajan. All these previously unprinted sets range from beginners to advanced and are wonderful to practice one at a time or choose one set for a 40 day sadhana. Harijot's clear illustrations make it easy to know the correct way to do the postures.
There is a beautiful one on Yogi Bhajan's Destiny CD.
He says, in his own voice, "I have no body, I have no mind, I have no spirit, I am just the breath of God, the breath of life, breath of life, breath of God."
What an amazing, transformative statement.
Seven days, Seven Says: A week of Kundalini yoga Ravi Singh
It has 7 days' worth of Kundalini Yoga workouts, but there are several of Ravi Singh's beautiful poems interspersed throughout. The black and white photographs are very nice and a great help when you are trying to do the exercises. Singh explains, briefly, the history of Kundalini, and there are appendices in the back which feature many different types of mantras and meditations, plus information on the chakras.
There is an introductory warm-up set that is to precede each day's workout, and then for each day of the week there is a set of exercises which correspond to the energies of that particular day; for example, Monday, ruled by the Moon, features exercises which balance the emotions. Each exercise is followed by a short description of what it will do for you.
This book is filled with beautiful words, lovely photos, and is a nice introduction to Kundalini Yoga. Great book. Kundalini yoga has really changed my life. I especially like this book. His writing is very inspirational, and so many insights are next to each other. The yoga sets (kryias) are very unique. By just doing one of the sets you'll gain more personal benefit from it than you had to spend for the book.
